2nd Annual Burns Night Shenandoah is on!
We are all very excited to invited to join the world wide fraternity on Saturday evening, January 25th in celebrating the birth of the poet Robert Burns. All Scots and lovers of all things Scottish are welcome as we commemorate our connection to the land of Misty Mountains.
This sequel to last years wildly successful event will be held at the Woodstock Moose Lodge and will include an expanded lineup of entertainment complemented by a sumptuous dinner prepared by Happenings Catering. Please note that due to public demand the location has changed since the announcement in the November Mountain Courier.
The evening will begin with a 6:30 PM reception featuring a cash bar. At 7:00 PM the skirling of the Highland Pipes will call all to the groaning board. The buffet dinner will include:
- Traditional Cock-a-leekie Soup
- Scottish Salmon w/ Maple & Ginger
- Cranberry Balsamic Roasted Chicken Breast
- Vegetarian Pasta Primavera
- Traditional Neeps & Tatties (mashed potatoes and turnips)
- Honey Glazed Carrots
And don’t miss out on just a taste of our USDA approved Haggis imported all the way from, well ... Bangor, Maine. But made, with minor substitutions from a traditional 150 year old Scottish recipe.
And for desert, a favorite from last year: Raspberry Cranachan Trifle with Scottish Shortbread Cookies. And of course, Iced Tea, Coffee & Hot Tea are included.
If you have a favorite Burns verse or Scottish song we’d love to hear from you. Requests will be considered, and your participation in the entertainment is encouraged. Please just let us know when you make your reservation.
Tickets are $50 per person, or $90 for a couple. All profits will be donated to the Valley Educational Center for the Creative Arts. The link to online ticketing will be posted here by December 1st.

Wow, what a night!
Everyone had a great time. And the most frequently asked question was, "will you do it again next year?" So, I guess the answer has to be YES! And it will be bigger, better, and hopefully much smoother. I think we've learned a lot. And you can expect:
- More music
- More wonderful stories and readings
- More audience participation - start thinking about what you'd like to present
- Great food
- Lots of good company
As soon as we've figured out the next steps we'll be posting here and on the VECCA Facebook page.
Thanks to you all!

Don't Miss Out - Tickets Are Going Fast!
With three weeks to go we're down to just 15 tickets remaining. So get your order in soon.
The entertainment program is developing nicely. Your's truly will be doing favorite readings of the Bard and perhaps even a song. And Lee and Russ have a lively selection of music to fill your evening.
We have a surprise for everyone, a special appearance by YOU! The amount of talent, hidden and otherwise in our beautiful valley continues to astonish. Do you have a favorite poem, prose or song that you'd like to share with the congregation? Let me know and the stage is yours.
We just have a few ground rules:

We just have a few ground rules:
- Your selection should be Scottish themed.
- To give everyone a chance please limit your performance time to three minutes.
- Please send details of your performance. We three friends will review it to avoid duplication.
So, tune up your pipes and get ready to perform.
